Meal after meal and day after day cheap recipes can become a real chore. It’s easy to get stuck on the same few meals. Some families eat the same tired things while forgetting about some old favorites. Random meal selection results in that situation. Now that more people are more focused on other things like work, it’s not easy to plan and execute a healthy menu.

When coming up with recipes and a menu schedule prior planning prevents future problems. People who take some time to plan out menus can select a wider variety of recipes. Sure the food is important, but so is the atmosphere around the meal. Even the same old food can be an adventure if cooked a different way.

Try ground beef. Ground beef and wheat with vegetables and tomato sauce (ketchup) is a burger That’s a taco too. While very different in the eyes and taste buds of most people, hamburgers and tacos share many of the same basic ingredients. Many different meals can come from one food. Let’s try another one. We’ll consider chicken with potatoes. French fries and fried chicken can be fattening and thus not healthy. But roasted chicken and potatoes are. More riffs on the same basic song. Chicken salad and chips make a good lunch. Chicken pot pie is good too. Chicken Teriyaki comes with rice, a starch just like the potatoes. A few basic foods can lead to great variety.

Try more than one meat. Some vegetables along with chicken and steak grilled on skewers are yummy kebabs. Steak and lobster can be very elegant for a parents only dinner date, or pretty basic to include the kids too at a family meal. Fish and chips make a good appetizer for a fried turkey, all made in the same deep fryer.

Where can people find more of these? There are a lot of food shows on television, even an entire channel dedicated to food. They not only have practical cooking tips, but have web sites with even more information on dinner recipes. A quick Google search on cheap ideas can give a lot of, well, ideas. You’ll never have time to read all the resulting information. There are more cheap recipes out there than the average person can ever eat in an entire lifetime.

Get more tips on preparing cheap meals.

There are many individuals that are looking for tips to help them get started with some easy dutch oven recipes. Dutch ovens are an old and reliable method for cooking, and are regaining in popularity. Unfortunately, not many know how to use them, so the following are some tips to help you cook with your dutch oven.

Remember that you can always look inside the oven to see how things are looking. Do not be afraid to pop the top. Usually this will not spoil the food. We aren’t dealing with a ‘pressure cooker’ here! Just remember not to do so too frequently as you will be releasing a lot of heat that is necessary for the food to cook properly.

Usually, steam escaping out from under the lid will imply that the heat is too much. Either reduce the heat or remove the pot until the coals have reduced some. Remember that heat regulation is often key with dutch oven recipes.

Try to turn the dutch oven about every 15 minutes. This will usually help reduce the browning of the foot in central areas and/or overcooking certain areas while undercooking other.

When you do rotate the dutch oven, turn it about 90 degrees. Try to stay rotating clockwise so that you do not accidentally rotate clockwise once, then counterclockwise the next. Effectively negating the rotation.

Always use caution when handling the dutch oven. Use mits or a thick towel to touch the pot as it can often hold heat for long periods of time and no one wants to burn themselves now do they?

Slightly more advance dutch oven cooking tips can involve using the briquettes properly. Adding, removing, or moving them usually be a way to adjust and/or monitor heat levels in the oven. This was the effective method when dutch ovens were frequently used, and we should learn the same if we want to be excellent campfire chefs!

When you become more comfortable cooking with dutch ovens, you can learn to stack and/or shuffle multiple ovens. This can be a bit advanced so keep it for later if you are new. But this ability will greatly increase food variety and decrease time spent cooking.

If you really want to become proficient at cooking easy dutch oven recipes, then you should take the time to watch how ‘old timers’ cook with dutch ovens, and take the time to learn from good old fasioned experience. The best way to learn is to do, and this is definitely true when it comes to easy dutch oven recipes

.

Ingredients for Irish Stew

2 lbs.breast of mutton or 1 and a half lbs.gigot chops

5 medium sized onions

2 lbs. potatoes

pepper and salt

3 quarters pint of cold milk

1 teaspoonful chopped parsley

1. Cut the meat into neat pieces, removing the skin and superfluous fat. All fat is not removed because the potatoes will absorb a certain amount.

2.Peel the onions and chop one. Wash and peel the potatoes thinly. If small, leave whole,if large, cut in two. Slice one thinly.

3.Put the meat in the bottom of the stewpan, then put in the sliced potato and chopped onion well seasoned with pepper and salt. Add the water, bring to the boil. Skim. simmer for 1 hour.

4. Arrange the potatoes and onions on top, cover and simmer for a further hour.

5.When the stew is cooked, serve on a hot dish with the potatoes and onions around and the meat in the centre. Pour a little sauce over and serve the remainder in a hot sauce boat.Garnish with parsley.

Stewing is long slow cooking in a closed vessel using only a small amount of liquid. A stew is generally a mixture of meat and vegetables. it depends for it’s success on -

1. The rate at which it is cooked

2.Careful seasoning

3.Blending of flavours

Regarding 1 it must be remembered that ” a stew boiled is a stew spoiled”. The maintenance of low steady temperature 180 degrees is essential to the success of a stew.If stew boils for any length of time, the protein and gelatine of the meat harden, thus rendering the meat “tough” instead of tender.

Methods of Stewing

There are two ways of cooking stew

1. Over a gentle heat

2. In the oven.

In both cases the lid must fit the vessel closely to prevent waste through evaporation.

Preparation of Meat for Stewing

Meat is wiped with a damp cloth.

Surplus fat is removed and the meat is divided into neat pieces about 2 ins. x 2 ins..

It should not be more than half ins. thick.

Sometimes the meat can be lightly fried before it is stewed - this prevents escape of some of the juices. (This process is used especially when meat of superior quality is being used in stew.)

Preparatory frying also helps to brown the gravy.

The liquid to which meat is added may be either thin, or of the consistency of a stewing sauce. It is advisable to use a thin liquid for meat that is tough, as it penetrates and softens the fibres better.
Find more Irish Recipes.

Home made beef jerky

History has proven that beef jerky is one of the most popular foods made by our ancestors. There have been new methods like freezing chemicals.

Most Jerky lovers still like the flavor and ease of beef jerky original which is mainly made from beef but has been recently added to by other flavours like camel and kangaroo.

When making jerky all the fat and moisture must be removed, jerky is in general a very good source of energy. Some times these benefits are offset by the many chemicals added by some jerky businesses.

For Making your own health jerky follow these steps

1. Select your meat, lean beef is best it will save you time, scotch, round, sirloin.

2. Cut your beef into strips less than 3.2 mm thick (1/8 ich)

3. If you want to make slicing easy partly freeze your meat

4. Make sure you trim all the fat because this does not freeze and can turn bad.

5. The type of marinade needed is made from sea salt and vinegar but you can use whatever you want. It needs to be put in the fridge to absorb the flavours, up to 24 hours.

6. You can season the meat with flavouring of your choice you need to experiment because some of these ingredients makes the jerky sticky.

7. Dehydrate the meat by leaving gaps between the slices for air flow. In dehydrators use non stick spray on the racks. In an oven set it at 70 c allowing preheating. In the oven its not meant to cook only get rid of the fluid by evaporation.

8. You need to watch and keep checking the consistency of the meat this will take beetween 6 and 24 hours.

9. Put your jerky in bags and store in either a fridge or a freezer until you need it.

Eat home made beef jerky in one week of preparation for best results , but don’t forget many of the products made today by beef jerky companies is just as good as home made stuff.

Possibly it’s just me, but Thanksgiving Day preparations had me worn out when we sat down to dinner. It was a day long affair, beginning with prepping the turkey at first light and ending with a frenzy of last minute hustle and bustle.

Tasting every dish for just the exact amount of seasoning, it seemed like I had been sampling and tasting the whole time. At long last, after too many years of this mayhem, I happened upon a do-ahead recipe book, which put a whole load of thanksgiving dinner planning ideas in my head! Nowadays, the most stressful thing I have to do on Thanksgiving Day is popping the turkey in the oven and making some coffee after dinner. Here are some tips for easy and scrumptious Thanksgiving cooking ideas.

As an alternative to shifting mountains and all the stuff in your frig to make room for that massive turkey, try this idea from a experienced Marine cook. Pick up your frozen bird at the store the day before Thanksgiving. (Make sure to order in plenty of time!) Fill a big ice box with plenty ice-cold water to submerge the bird. Close the lid and right before you go to bed, turn the turkey over. The bird should be ready for cooking when you get up. This system has been used for years and is very doable.

I always wondered why your turkey didn’t cook according to the time allotted on the wrapping directions. It’s because of having to constantly open the oven to baste the bird. This thanksgiving meal idea is a gem. Melt some butter and add some seasonings. Slide your hand between the breast and leg skin, lightly pulling the skin away from the meat. Place the bird on end and tip the butter in between the skin and meat, using your (washed!) fingers to smear the butter. Put the turkey breast facing up on the oven rack, wrap with thin-foil and place the bird in the oven. The bird should baste itself. Foolproof.

Nearly all traditional Thanksgiving pastries, such as mincemeat and pumpkin pies, are ideal do-aheads. Just freeze, remove and defrost the day before and bake the night before Thanks Giving. The same applies for rolls and biscuits.

As your pies are baking, prepare any vegetables you will be using with your filling. Garnish and bag up in the frig until morning. Clean and cook potatoes, then put them in a bag for mashing tomorrow. Sauces? Can be put cooking while you’re chopping.

Great Thanksgiving dinner party ideas share something in common - less work and more thanks giving on Thanksgiving Day! Do-ahead starters are frequently the most involved and delicious. Browse for ideas on the Internet that work with your dishes and liking. Shop for these items a couple of weeks ahead of time and spend a day off get ready these appetizers. Freeze them and leave until the day its self. As you prep the turkey, cook your appetizers.

These Thanksgiving feast ideas leaves plenty of time for meet & greet and chatting, with a tasty feast everyone will love!

If you think you don’t have time to make dinner, think again. With these ideas, you'll be a professional at-home chef in no time.

Plan ahead.
Nothing has people reaching for the take out menu faster than a lack of planning. If you’ve been trying to plan dinner after 5 pm, odds are that you give up on cooking most days. Make sure to plan at least five meals each week before you go to the grocery store for the week, so you have the ingredients on hand. (Printable grocery coupons are here.) If you have enough food to make several different types of meals, you’ll be less likely to eat out.

Each morning, decide what you’ll make for dinner that night. You may want to put any meat that needs to defrost in the refrigerator. You'll also want to make sure you have all of the ingredients. Review the recipe and figure out when you'll need to start making dinner in order to have it done on time.

Come up with a system for dinner recipes.
Quick dinners are easy when you have a system to follow. Keep your dinners to an easy formula of protein plus carbohydrate plus vegetable and you'll be able to make dinner quickly. This formula can cover a wide range of possibilities – baked chicken, cheesy noodles and broccoli, grilled steak with peppers and onions served with tortillas, sautéed ground beef with Asian vegetables served over rice. The possibilities are endless!

Use frozen vegetables to save time.
Everyone needs more vegetables and serving frozen vegetables are an easy way to get more into your family’s diet. Keep a wide variety of frozen vegetables on hand. You can change the flavor with spices, margarine mixed with lemon juice or even Italian dressing. A few minutes in the microwave or on the stovetop with a vegetable steamer and you’ll have vegetables for your meal.

Cook some ingredients ahead of time.
Ground beef can be used in many different recipes, from spaghetti to tacos. It takes just as much time to brown two pounds of beef as it does to brown a half a pound. On a weekend, brown and freeze several pounds of ground beef or ground turkey. This way, the next time you cook a recipe that calls for ground beef you’ll just have to reheat it. You can do the same thing with chicken pieces.

Keep alternatives at the ready.
Even the most well planned menu can come undone from time to time. When meetings run late or the family cook isn't feeling well, keep a few frozen meals on hand. Frozen lasagna, skillet meals and other pre-packaged foods are okay every once in a while. You can improve the nutrition of these processed meals by adding more vegetables and serving health side dishes.

For those special occasion meals when you need gourmet fare, consider a service that delivers prepared meals or gourmet entrees to your home (such as Home Bistro or Omaha Steaks). This option can get expensive if you use it a lot, but both companies issue online coupons and promotions from time to time. Check here for current Home Bistro Coupons; and here for Omaha Steaks coupons.

When you are thinking about how to save money, its really hard to think about how you start saving money. Cutting back on your grocery bill is only going to happen if you have some concrete and realistic Low Cost Cooking ideas as to what to fix for each meal and snack. Sometimes this means following a particular recipe or instructions for a meal, but often cheap food ideas can mean just getting creative and using some common sense for meals.

If you are wondering what we are talking about, here is an example. You can usually find frozen vegetables that are very affordable at your supermarket; many cheap food ideas involve using these in a soup or stew that you make yourself for just pennies. A pan or broth or a few jars of prepared gravy are all you need for a vegetable soup or stew. Its as simple as using your left over veggies and gravy along with a pot pie crust and you have a dinner already made. These are great Low Price Cooking ideas that are very filling and that can be done without a lot of fuss or without following a complicated recipe. For a pot pie you simply follow the directions on the pie crust and for soup you can just add a few herbs such as oregano and basil. While canned soup and canned stew are very affordable themselves, by making up your own as cheap food ideas you’re saving even more money and usually get a meal that’s much tastier than anything you get from a can.

Its a good idea to think in advance of a way that you can use your leftovers before you even start preparing the meal. You might not think much of those few spoonfuls of mashed potatoes or those few bites of chicken but these can be incorporated into entirely new meals. Mashed potatoes can easily become potato pancakes and any type of leftover meat can be reheated in a small amount of oil to be put over a salad or wrapped up in a rolled sandwich. By using these items until they’re actually used up and gone you have cheap food ideas that really only cost a few pennies for the additional ingredients and don’t need to purchase a new helping of meat or anything else.

When considering Budget Cooking ideas bear in mind the cost of buying prepared and packaged foods as well.Items you prepare yourself versus those same item that you can buy already prepared are much less expensive if you will just take the time to prepare them. While you may occasionally need to purchase these things for special occasions you should never make a habit of allowing the supermarket to do your cooking for you! You’re actually paying for the labor needed to prepare these items which goes against the concept of cheap food ideas.

So keep these things in mind when considering cheap food ideas. Two very easy ways to start cutting on your grocery bill is to not let the supermarket do your cooking and to always always utilize your leftovers.

Everyone needs to watch their spending today; even someone making six figures is going to feel the pinch of gas prices and food prices that are skyrocketing out of control these days. But while there seems to be no end to the number of Budget Cooking recipes that you can use to cut back on your family’s grocery bill, very often these recipes leave something to be desired when it comes to their nutritional value and their taste. Really, what’s the point of following cheap food recipes if it means food that is unhealthy or that no one in your family will eat? But there are some ways to dress up these recipes so that they’re tastier and more nutritious at the same time.

For one thing remember that you can use foods that are reduced in fat and sugar but not necessarily fat free or sugar free. Usually things like mayonnaise or salad dressing that are fat free are rather tasteless but you can use reduced fat items in Low Cost Cooking recipes that will make them healthier but still preserve the taste. Think of how you can use reduced fat cheese, mayonnaise, salad dressing, yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese, and items like these in any cheap food recipes you may have to make them better for you.

It’s also good to think of leaner cuts of meat you can use, such as using chicken or pork instead of beef. Shredded chicken marinating in barbecue sauce makes for great sandwiches, or you can use chicken strips for rolled up sandwiches instead of steak. Thinking of how you can make up cheap food recipes using less expensive cuts of meat this way can save you quite a bit over time.

You might also want to think of items you can add to your Low Cost Cooking recipes to enhance flavor. For example, salsa, spaghetti sauce, reduced fat cheese, or sour cream can be used in many casserole recipes without adding a lot of extra calories. If you’re making chicken and rice, add some cheese or sour cream and bake it for added flavor. Leftover meatballs can be added to pasta sauce for a nice submarine sandwich. These types of cheap food recipes use up leftovers so that you’re not adding anything to your grocery bill. When you reheat any item think of what you can add to enhance the flavor rather than just eating a plate of warmed over leftovers.

A good rule of thumb is to add fresh veggies to any food recipe you are making to add flavor and bulk.Sometimes you always don’t need to use as much chicken as the recipie calls for and you can add more broccoli or cauliflower.Sometimes it really helps if you are having a meat dish to steam a few veggies on the side and you have a well balanced meal. These make for cheap food recipes that are better for you. You can even use pasta sauce over steamed vegetables as well for added flavor. What you will have by doing this are a few outcomes that are very healthy, budget friendly, and they actually taste good as well.

With everyone’s budget being stretched to the limit these days, it’s no wonder that many people are turning to the dollar menus and other items they find at those cheap fast food restaurants to help round out their meals. When you have a family to feed it can be tempting to just take everyone to the local hamburger place for burgers and fries and unlimited soda, but if you’re concerned at all about your health and your family’s health then you may want to reconsider those cheap fast food meals and learn Low Price Cooking , no matter how tight your budget.

It’s true that sometimes you can get more food for your money at those cheap fast food restaurants because they are able to buy things in bulk the way that private consumers just can’t, even when you shop at those warehouse stores and outlets. So they can offer a lot of items for a dollar or so when it might cost you half over that to make them at home. But just because it’s cheap fast food doesn’t mean that it’s the right choice for your family. When considering what you’re going to eat and what your family is going to eat there are other things to think about than just the price.Food that is the lowest quality possible is the cheepest so think about that next time you are in line for a dollar menu at a fast food restaurant. Their hamburger is full of fat rather than a lean cut and most fries are cooked in thick, artery-clogging saturated fat and oils. So you might be eating cheaper food this way but it’s not food that does anything for your health overall, and can be damaging as well so its best to learn about Low Cost Cooking .

Rather than rely on cheap fast food to fill in the gaps of your grocery budget, it might be time to learn some tips and tricks for feeding your family Low Price Cooking . A can of soup usually costs about as much as a hamburger and can be even more filling. It can be even cheaper if you make the soup yourself and usually tastes better as well. Rather than get soda from the vending machine just buy it at the supermarket and bring it into the office; this is usually about a third of the cost of buying it even at a cheap fast food restaurant. If you have a hot lunch such as a rolled up sandwich or plate of leftovers you might find this more palatable than a cold tuna sandwich. A microwave at work can mean that you can easily heat the ingredients separately and make the sandwich while you’re there so nothing is soggy.

It might take some effort to learn how to forego lunch or dinner at a cheap fast food restaurant all the time, but it’s usually worth it in the end. When you’re talking about a meal with no nutritional value whatsoever, then you know that a cheap fast food visit just isn’t worth it.

Why are customers thumbing their noses at basic sandwiches & subs, and turning to Sandwich Wraps? Well, Sandwich Wraps are the rage now, and rapidly becoming the preferred way to eat a sandwich. Here’s 6 reasons why you may become the next convert to Wraps:

Wraps are DIFFERENT!
Hey, life has gotten pretty monotonous ….and when that precious 45 minute lunch break rolls around, the LAST thing folks want is a same-old, hum-drum sub or burger. Sure, that’ll fill your hungry belly …..but will do nothing to fill your hungry spirit. That’s why food customers everywhere are looking for something unique and different, and Wraps are just the ticket.

Wraps save you all that BREAD
Who wants all those wasted carbs?? With Wraps, your mouth gets to bypass that thick, chewy roll and can quickly get to what matters…..the flavorful ingredients on the inside.

Wraps are more flavorful than subs
OK, here’s your choice:
1) A Sandwich Wrap that features healthy, fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces that’s hot on the inside and GRILLED golden brown on the outside, or 2) A COLD sub on a chewy, untoasted roll, with generic meat and cheese, and slathered with mustard and Mayo. HHUUMMM, I thought so.

Wraps are Convenient
Did you ever try to eat a Sub on the run, or in your car? Forget about it!! Most will end up dripping down your sleeve, or in your lap. But Wraps are self contained and very easy (and fun) to eat.

Wraps bring variety to your life
Wraps encourage you to mix it up…..and build interesting combinations that fit your unique tastes. It’s far more empowering to construct Sandwich Wraps that reflect YOU, than be roped into their same tasteless #1 Combo that you’ve eaten since you were 7 years old.

Wraps make you sexy
OK, laugh it up, but remember the old adage, “You are what you eat”. Well, if you eat exciting, unique sandwich options, like Hot Sandwich Wraps that’s the way you will feel…..hot, interesting & Unique. But the opposite is also true. Yes, boring cold subs or fast food WILL fill your belly, but that’s it. So, here’s a question: Which do think makes you more appealing to others, a full stomach or a full spirit?

Hot Sandwich Wraps are “The New American Sandwich”, and there’s no going back. The days of following the herd to boring, tasteless fast food are over. Wraps are the rage because they reach the mind as well as the belly. And that’s one reason why there is a lot of movement in the sandwich franchise industry these days.
