What to Keep in Mind when Choosing 3 Cup Rice Cookers
I consider rice cooker as one of the most helpful appliances to have in the kitchen. But many people have never owned one, while others don’t consider getting a rice cooker. But many people who own rice cookers say they won’t use the pot-on-the-stove style of cooking.
I love rice and I need the perfect rice cooker. Before, I wasn’t into rice. Everything changed when my partner encouraged me to eat rice. Now, I’m into rice. My partner and I cook rice almost everyday.
We have the best rice with our 3 cup rice cooker. This article lists some of the considerations when getting 3 cup rice cookers.
Amount of rice you’re cooking
Get a 3 cup rice cooker if you cook small amount of rice. This is size isn’t for you if you cook more than 3 cups of rice because it can’t handle such amount. Having a 3 cup rice cooker when you’re cooking 4 cups means a messy counter. Expect an overflow of water.
When using a 3 cup rice cooker, avoid cooking less than 2 cups of rice. Making anything this amount can lead to drying and overcooking. I’m sure don’t like that. So make sure to cook only 2 to 3 cups of rice at one time.
We’re to buy a 5 cup rice cooker. But a good friend (a rice cooker expert) told us that a 5-cupper and other larger versions aren’t appropriate for a couple like us. It’s just too big for the two of us. Instead, she suggested us to get a 3 cup rice cooker. So we did. Our 3 cup rice cooker hasn’t disappointed us yet.
Price of rice cooker
Consider the price of the 3 cupper when you’re getting one. Lower end rice cookers and the higher end ones significantly differ in price. The lower end types cost about $15 to $30. Top-class cookers sell for around $150 to $200.
Generally speaking, if you’re only interested in cooking and steaming plain rice and nothing else, the cheaper 3 cup rice cookers will do. But if you’re one of those who cook various types of rice and cook them very well, only the premium ones will do.
Look for practical features
Check for some helpful features when buying a 3 cup rice cooker. Consider a 3 cup rice that sports a nonstick bowl and features an inner lid for trouble-free cleaning. Additionally, see if the 3 cupper can cook white, brown, or mixed rice. Spending a little more on your 3 cup rice cooker will get you many extra options.
